Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) - Advance

The latest American National standard on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is ASME Y14.5 – 2018 standard.

GD&T is an international engineering language that is used on engineering drawings. It is used as a symbolic way of showing specific tolerances on drawings. It is a valuable tool that effectively communicates the design intent to manufacturing and inspection. It establishes a Cartesian coordinate system known as Datum Reference frame. All the dimensions and specifications are measured / referenced from this frame.

This course introduces participants to the GD&T system, providing a working knowledge of the correct interpretation and application of each symbol, general rules, the datum system, and ‘bonus’ tolerance and highlighting some of the changes in the updated Y14.5 standard.

The Main objectives of the latest revision is to correct any inconsistencies from the previous edition, to include model-based applications where ever applicable, and also to address previously submitted proposals by the industry or members of the subcommittees.

This course is ideal for anyone who has a need to apply GD&T based on the design intent of the product or interpret geometric tolerances on a product print.
